eBay titles have 80 characters: put the brand, product, model and key attributes first, and skip words like “L@@K” or “wow”. Item specifics matter as much as the title, because buyers filter by them. For used items, describe every flaw: it prevents returns and negative feedback.
Etsy recommends short, readable titles that say what the item is. Put the other search words in your 13 tags (up to 20 characters each) and cover different buyer intents: style, material, recipient and occasion. Be accurate about who made the item: Etsy only allows resale of vintage items and craft supplies.
Amazon titles follow a strict style: brand, product and key attributes within the category limit, with no promotional words, special characters or repeated words. Bullet points carry one idea each. Backend search terms add synonyms not already in the title, without other brands’ names.
Shoot in soft daylight against a plain background, fill the frame with the product, and take the same angles every time: front, back, side, details, scale and the product in use. For used items, photograph the actual item and every flaw.
Editing should fix framing and light, never change what the product looks like. Buyers return items that look different from the photos.

From the tool’s rule configuration (last reviewed 2026-09). Requirements vary by category and region and can change: check your seller account.
Start from your total cost per sale, not the product cost: marketplace and payment fees, shipping, packaging, advertising and tax all come out of the price. The Profit tab shows your profit, margin and break-even price using the fees from your own seller account (our guide on how to price products to sell online explains each cost). Then compare with similar listings and decide where your product sits. For recurring invoices to wholesale buyers, our free invoice generator helps.
Repeating words and adding unrelated terms makes titles unreadable and can break marketplace rules.
Guessing a material, size or identifier leads to returns, bad reviews and policy problems.
“Free shipping”, “best seller” and prices don’t belong in titles or descriptions.
Undisclosed wear is the fastest route to “not as described” returns.
Dark, cluttered or tiny photos hide the product. The first photo sells the click.
Each marketplace has different fields and limits. One listing for all three fits none of them.
