How the AI Prompt Generator Works

The generator does not call an AI. It applies prompt-engineering rules to what you enter: each category has its own structure, and each AI destination gets its own formatting. The same input always produces the same prompt.

  1. Describe your goal

Say what you want in plain language. One or two sentences is enough to start.

  2. Choose the AI and category

Pick where the prompt will be used and what you are creating, from SEO to n8n workflows to video.

  3. Add detail if you like

Audience, context, constraints and category fields (like tech stack or camera movement) make the prompt sharper.

  4. Copy and use it

Edit the result if you want, then paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or your image or video tool.

What Makes a Good AI Prompt?

An AI prompt is the instruction you give an AI model. The model only knows what the prompt tells it, so a vague prompt gets a generic answer. Structure matters because it tells the model who to be, what to do, for whom, within which limits and in what shape to answer.

  • Role: which expert the AI should act as
  • Objective: what you want and what success looks like
  • Context: your situation, so the answer is not generic
  • Audience: who the result is for
  • Constraints: length, budget, deadline, things to avoid
  • Output format: table, email, JSON, code or report
  • Quality check: how the AI should review its own answer

Constraints are the most underused part: “under 200 words, no jargon, one call to action” removes whole categories of bad answers before they happen.

Before

Write an SEO blog about CRMs.

After: generated by this tool
## Role
You are a senior SEO strategist who follows Google Search Essentials and writes for people first.

## Objective
Write a helpful article about how to choose a CRM for a small business.

## Target Audience
Owners of small businesses with 5–20 employees who have never used a CRM.

## SEO Context
- Primary topic: how to choose a CRM for a small business
- Deliverable: Blog article

## Requirements
1. Identify the search intent behind “how to choose a CRM for a small business” and match the content to it.
2. Answer the main question directly near the top, then go deeper.
3. Use descriptive H2 and H3 headings that each cover one subtopic.
4. Cover the questions a searcher would ask next, without padding.
5. Suggest 3–5 internal links (anchor text and the page they should point to).

## Style
Tone: professional and clear: confident, precise and free of jargon the reader would not know.

## Output Format
Return a Markdown document with a title, H2 sections and lists where they help scanning.

## Quality Check
- Check the content would satisfy the searcher without them needing another page.
- Check headings are descriptive and the topic is used naturally, not repeated.
- If essential information is missing, state your assumptions first, or ask up to 3 short clarifying questions if the task cannot be done well without the answers.

## Final Instruction
Now complete the task.

Prompts for Different AI Models

Chat models, coding assistants, automation tools and image or video generators read prompts differently. An image model needs a visual description, not a conversation, and an automation step needs output that the next step can parse.

How the generator shapes prompts for each AI destination
DestinationHow the prompt is shaped
ChatGPTMarkdown sections: an explicit role, the task, requirements, constraints and the output format.
ClaudeContext, instructions, constraints and output kept clearly apart; XML-style tags are used only for longer, complex prompts.
GeminiClear context, task and format, plus an instruction to use any files or images you attach.
Any AI chatPlain labelled sections that work in almost any model.
Coding assistantsTechnical context, expected behavior, edge cases, security, tests and the exact code format to return.
n8n and AI agentsImplementation-ready: trigger, nodes, credential placeholders, branching, retries, or machine-readable output rules.
Image generatorsA single visual description: subject, style, composition, lighting, lens, color, mood, aspect ratio and a negative prompt.
Video generatorsScene, subject and action, camera movement, lighting, timed beats, audio, continuity and things to avoid.

Product names are used only to describe compatibility. This tool is not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic or Google.

n8n workflow for lead follow-up

n8n Workflows category, n8n / AI agent destination, Balanced.

Show the prompt
ROLE
You are an n8n workflow engineer who builds production-ready, maintainable workflows.

OBJECTIVE
Build an n8n workflow that captures website form leads, scores them with AI, adds them to HubSpot and alerts sales in Slack.

TRIGGER
Webhook from the website contact form. Suggested node: Webhook node (or n8n Form Trigger for a hosted form).

INPUT DATA
Show the expected JSON of one incoming item, and mark which fields are required.

NODES
1. Trigger: Webhook from the website contact form → Webhook node (or n8n Form Trigger for a hosted form).
2. Edit Fields (Set): normalize the incoming data into clean, named fields.
3. IF or Switch: validate required fields and route invalid items to an error branch.
4. AI step (AI Agent or OpenAI chat model node): perform the AI task with a strict instruction and structured JSON output.
5. HubSpot node: the action needed in HubSpot.
6. Slack node: the action needed in Slack.
7. Final step: send the result or confirmation to where it is needed.

CREDENTIALS
- OpenAI: use a placeholder credential named {{OPENAI_CREDENTIAL}}.
- HubSpot: use a placeholder credential named {{HUBSPOT_CREDENTIAL}}.
- Slack: use a placeholder credential named {{SLACK_CREDENTIAL}}.

BRANCHING AND CONDITIONS
- Define each IF/Switch rule in plain language and in n8n expression form.
- Describe what happens to items on every branch, including the invalid branch.

ERROR HANDLING AND RETRIES
- Enable Retry On Fail on nodes that call external APIs (for example 3 tries, 5 seconds apart).
- Create an Error Workflow with an Error Trigger that alerts a person with the failed item.
- Use Continue On Fail only for non-critical steps, and log what was skipped.

IMPLEMENTATION
- Give node-by-node build instructions with the key settings for each node.
- Explain how to test it with sample data before activating it.

REQUIREMENTS
1. Name every node clearly for what it does.
2. Use credential placeholders; never put real API keys in the workflow.
3. Validate incoming data before using it.
4. Configure retries on nodes that call external APIs, and an error workflow for failures.
5. Keep AI steps constrained with clear instructions and structured output.

OUTPUT FORMAT
Return node-by-node build steps, then optional importable workflow JSON with placeholder credentials.

QUALITY CHECK
- Check every node’s input matches the previous node’s output.
- Check no secrets appear in the workflow.
- If essential information is missing, state your assumptions first, or ask up to 3 short clarifying questions if the task cannot be done well without the answers.

FINAL INSTRUCTION
Start with the node-by-node plan, then the implementation details.

Image prompt for a website hero

Avoid: text, watermarks, logos, distorted hands, extra limbs, blurry details, low resolution.

Midjourney-style parameters: --ar 16:9 --no text, watermarks, logos, distorted hands, extra limbs

How to Improve Your Prompts

  1. Say what “good” looks like

Describe the result you want: “a 5-email sequence that books calls”, not “some emails”.

  2. Give real context

Your industry, customers, offer and what you have tried. The AI cannot guess it, and generic input gets generic output.

  3. Set limits

Word counts, budgets, deadlines, reading level and things to avoid all narrow the answer towards what you need.

  4. Ask for a format

A table, checklist, JSON or email is easier to use than a wall of text, and easier to check.

  5. Tell it not to invent

Ask the AI to state assumptions and flag uncertainty instead of making up numbers, sources or quotes.

  6. Iterate on the prompt, not only the answer

If an answer misses, add the missing detail to the prompt and save the better version for next time.

Image prompts work differently from chat prompts: describe what the camera sees (subject, setting, light, lens, color) rather than asking a question. Automation prompts differ too: they must produce the same structure every time so the next step in the workflow can read the output.

AI Prompt Generator: Frequently Asked Questions

What is an AI prompt generator?

A tool that turns a short description of what you want into a complete, structured prompt: it adds an expert role, context, requirements, constraints, an output format and a quality check, so the AI has what it needs to give a useful answer.

Is this AI prompt generator free?

Yes. It is free to use, with no account, no email address and no usage limit.

Does it use AI, and does it need an API key?

No. Prompts are built by a set of prompt-engineering rules that run in your browser. No AI model is called and you do not need an API key. Paste the result into the AI tool you already use.

Does it work with ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini?

Yes. Choose your AI in step 1 and the prompt is formatted for it: Markdown sections for ChatGPT, clearly separated instructions for Claude, and notes about attached files for Gemini. It is not affiliated with any of these companies.

Can it improve a prompt I already have?

Yes. Switch to Improve a Prompt, paste your prompt and it shows what is missing (role, context, audience, format, constraints, quality checks), then rebuilds it with [bracketed notes] where only you can add the details.

Can I create image and video prompts?

Yes. Choose AI image generator or AI video generator. Image prompts describe the subject, style, composition, lighting, lens, colors and what to avoid; video prompts add camera movement, timed beats and audio.

Are my prompts stored or sent anywhere?

No. Everything is built in your browser and nothing you type is sent to our servers. Your last five prompts and your option choices are saved only in your own browser, and you can clear them at any time. See our privacy notice.

What does the prompt completeness score mean?

It shows how much useful information your prompt contains, from a checklist (clear objective, context, audience, format, constraints and category details). It does not measure or predict how well any AI will answer.
